Direction requests, explained

A direction request is counted when someone asks Google Maps for a route to your business from your Business Profile.

Why it matters

For businesses customers visit, like restaurants, shops and clinics, direction requests are one of the clearest signs of real visits coming from Google. Watching them by week shows the effect of changes such as new hours or photos.

How to improve it

  • Make sure your pin is in the right place and your address is exact.
  • Keep hours, including holiday hours, correct.
  • Add photos of your entrance and parking so people can find you.
